To save lives
Responders live and work where patients are—in homes, schools, businesses, and houses of worship—helping care begin sooner.
About JVAC
JVAC supplements the existing emergency medical system with trained community responders who can begin care while an ambulance is on the way.
Welcome to JVAC
JVAC is a nonprofit, all-volunteer medical service providing emergency responders 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Started by members of the Jewish community, JVAC serves everyone at no cost regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity. Its operating model follows leading community-based volunteer emergency medical systems developed in Israel and elsewhere.
JVAC responders stabilize patients until fire-rescue professionals arrive, then transfer care. JVAC is not an ambulance service and does not provide transport.
The response model

JVAC supports the patient until fire-rescue arrives and takes over.
Why the model works

Responders live and work where patients are—in homes, schools, businesses, and houses of worship—helping care begin sooner.

Volunteers bring urgency and compassion because the people they serve are also their friends, families, and neighbors.

An early assessment can help a hesitant patient understand when definitive hospital care is necessary.

Medical training and cultural awareness help responders provide sensitive care across diverse communities.
“Anyone who saves a life saves the world.”
JVAC welcomes people of every background as responders, dispatchers, and administrative support volunteers.
